How to Customize Your Facebook Page’s Featured Likes

by Carissa Dunphy on April 11, 2011

Facebook Page LikesEvery Facebook page has an area that displays other pages that your brand likes, “featured likes”. See the example ->
The pages that your brand likes bring forth a great opportunity for networking and advertising. I use the likes on my Facebook page as an industry related resource so visitors can see who influences me and what I do. I use the featured likes to promote brands that I like, Ovaleye Cloud Services is who I work for, and therefore promote, and Young Female Entrepreneurs is an amazing networking group for people like myself, of which I also choose to promote. The bottom three featured pages rotate between all of the other pages I like, since I only chose to fill two of the five featured slots. The pages you choose are at your disposal – choose friends brands, local businesses, mentors, the options are limitless. Do remember that visitors see these and who you choose may leave an impression about your brand.
If your facebook page has a lot of fans and gets decent traffic you could sell these five featured pages as available advertising.

Facebook Page Featured LikesTo change who you feature click the “Edit Page” in the top right corner and then select “Featured” from the menu list. Click “Edit Featured Likes” and all of the pages that your page likes will come up in one menu. Simply check the boxes of who you want featured (up to five), if you choose less than five, the remaining slots will randomly rotate other pages you like.

If you know the owner of another page, you could ask if they wouldn’t  mind featuring your page!

Yes, but how do you Like something from your facebook page without it simply adding it to your personal profile Likes? THIS is the thing I can’t figure out.

As far as I know the pages you “like” will always appear on your info page in your personal profile and in the pages you like on your fan page.
Facebook privacy setting FAQ’s states, “We currently do not allow users to hide the pages they like from their friends. However, we plan to provide more robust privacy controls for Pages in the future.” Looks as though you’ll have to wait it out. ;)
