Get serious about your website
Finish all elements of your website. Nothing should be left “under construction” for long. Assume that your website visitors are going to decide whether or not to hire you from that one visit. All of your contact details should be listed including phone, email and social media. You don’t necessarily have to have every detail of every product or service, buy have enough information for them to decide or contact you for more information; However, They won’t contact you if there is far too little information. Finish it, be proud of it and promote it.

Network
Knowing all sorts of people can help your business. Keeping in touch will give you the ability to contact nearly anyone in any business, anytime. This is a very powerful resource to have. It also gives you the ability to be in someone else’s network; you can be their go to person. Which leads me to the next important tip…

Brand yourself
Make sure that anything you have published for the public is clear on what it is you do, no one should be left wondering. Your business name, tagline and logo should all flow together well. This also includes website profiles, letterheads, email signatures and the rest of your logo’d items – have everything match.

Be competitive
Always know what your competition is doing. This is valuable for many reasons, the first being cost. Your rates should be near your competitors, not excessively higher or lower. Also, by knowing the products or services your competitor is offering you can keep focused on your industry. Sometimes businesses change directions and your competitors may change. You should always know who your competitors are. Keeping an eye and ear on your competition should help you stay at the top of your game.

Evolve
Move with the times – every business needs to keep pretty current with it’s operations. Keep your policies and procedures the same as long as they’re working, but upgrade as needed. This may mean equipment, technology, staffing, uniforms/wardrobe or even decor if you have an office that clients visit. Part of evolving is also staying current on all if the above.
